Handmade Pateh Tablecloth

Pateh is fabulous and colorful needlework from the Kerman Province of Iran. This woolen fabric is hand-dyed and the natural dye is from pomegranate, walnut, madder, or henna. The women of villages decorate it with embroidered patterns using colorful woolen threads called “Rees”.
There are various kinds of patterns for decorating Persian Pateh. The most famous ones are The Tree of Life which represents the mystical mutual connection of life components and the other pattern named “Toranj” which usually appears in the center with paisley and Botteh in each corner of Pateh. The borders are also brightened with birds, flowers, and leaves.
As Shafiabad village is the closest city to the desert, locals living in this area experiencing a hard life. They mostly make money from farming, ranching, and tourism.
But recently, a group of women artisans, named “Gojinu”, started to make and sell their handmade stunning Kerman Pateh products to earn money from a sustainable job.
