This folk puppet’s name is “Leili” which belongs to the Lur nomads of Noorabad Mamasani Village in Fars Province of Iran. Women of this village make this traditional puppet creatively using leftover pieces of wood and colorful clothes.
The unique property of Leili puppet is that she can copy the hand moves of Lur women folk dance. To do this, you can simply push a white string behind her dress and then the doll’s hands move up and down.
The height of this local puppet is about 32 to 35 cm. and the width is about 25 cm.
All the materials used for making this doll are provided from villages and it is also totally handcrafted.

This Luri puppet is faceless like many other dolls of Iran. the reason for making the dolls faceless is that the villagers believe only God can create a face and character so they avoid doing it. These dolls used to be the only fun for nomad girl kids during seasonal immagration.
