Shafiabad is a village in the Shahdad district of Kerman Province. If you’ve ever heard of Shahdad Kaluts’ famous structures, you may know they are one of the most extraordinary geological Phenomena. This place is also well-known for being the hottest place on earth.

As the Shafiabad village is the closest city to the desert, locals living in this area experiencing a hard life. They mostly make money from farming, ranching, and tourism.

But recently, a group of women artisans, named “Gojinu”, started to make and sell their handmade stunning needlework to earn money from a sustainable job. Most of these women are from low-income families who face many obstacles in their life.

Their main product is called “Pateh” which is fabulous and colorful handmade needlework decorated with embroidered patterns using colorful woolen threads. Pateh’s can be used as table clothing, wall art, and any other ways in decoration design.

We also defined a project in Shafiabad Village to revive the Qanats of their districts with the help of money coming from selling Gojinu group’s products. So each purchase not only helps a family but also conserves the environment and culture.
